WELL, this is a little bit embarrassing. The most eagle-eyed of readers will have spotted this car is a year old. It's not me being lazy. Promise. It's Jaguar's fault. Bosses got their knickers in a twist over the supply of a key component and cancelled last July's launch to get it fixed. Now the 176mph F-Pace SVR is finally here , I'd get in quick because there's only a year left of engine supply. Ford currently builds the utterly nutterly 5-litre supercharged V8 for Jaguar at Bridgend but that deal runs out in September 2020. The good news is that Jaguar Land Rover won't kill off the V8 — it needs it for the F-Type sports car, as much as its pumped-up SUVs — and is currently working through a "shopping list" of other suppliers. I suggest they go and talk to Mercedes-AMG who also look after Aston Martin. Or McLaren engine maker Ricardo. Or BMW. Now let's talk about the car you see here today.
