The Australian Cricket Awards it seems had enough star power to give the Oscars a run for its money and more twists than Oscar-winning movies. When it came time to announce the winner of the Belinda Clark award, this happened:

Can’t blame Alyssa Healy, though, those wine spritzers really creep up on you. But, in yet another plot twist Healy revealed on Twitter that she was actually at the back being grilled by journo Laura Jolly who was no doubt trying to land a scoop.

Border medal winner or Broad’s bunny?

David Warner’s success at the Australian Cricket Awards, where he won the Allan Border medal for the third time, drew quite a predictable response in the northern hemisphere.

First, England posted an Ashes, erm, highlights reel, showing all seven of Stuart Broad’s dismissals of Warner during the series:

Nottinghamshire, Broad’s county, got in the act with an “Oh My Broad” reference:

And the man himself attempted a casual nod to the news by replying to a previously tweeted clip of his wickets:

Presumably Warner, who went on to score 1219 runs at 135.44 across the formats during the Australian summer, will be keen to have the last laugh in 2021-22…
