Suresh Raina Brings A Lot of Experience in Chennai Super Kings Camp: Ajit Agarkar

Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar feels that Suresh Raina’s return to the Chennai Super Kings camp is a positive sign for the team. Agarkar said that Raina brought a lot of experience and runs to the CSK team this season. CSK finished seventh on the points table season as it was the first time when they failed to qualify for the playoffs. Agarkar pointed out that Raina’s absence in the middle-order was one of the major reasons behind CSK’s struggle last season. “We saw their struggle when he wasn’t there last season; he has been prolific for the 13 seasons of IPL. The one thing he brings in is a lot of experience, Agarkar said on Star Sports’ Select Dugout. Agarkar said that CSK will be hoping that Raina will produce the same amount of runs this season for them which he used to in the earlier campaigns. “It’s such a high-pressure tournament and you need the experience as you go deeper in the tournament – plus, his runs. They (CSK) will be hoping that he still has the form that … [Read more...] about Suresh Raina Brings A Lot of Experience in Chennai Super Kings Camp: Ajit Agarkar

Students say NUS orientation camp games increasingly sexualised; some told to re-enact rape scene

SINGAPORE (THE NEW PAPER) - One was asked whose bodily fluids she would like to drink, while another watched her peers re-enact an incestuous rape scene. These were just two examples of the sexualised activities that hundreds of freshmen were made to participate in some of the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) orientation camps in the past two months. Some students said they attended the camps to make friends, but they were instead pressured to take part in increasingly sexualised activities. A 19-year-old freshman whom we shall name Chloe told The New Paper that she left the room after she became uncomfortable during an activity called “burning bridges” that required her to answer inappropriate questions. The questions touched on taboo subjects such as which man’s bodily fluid she would want to drink, who among them is the sluttiest, and who would never get married and die alone, she said. The girl had to lie on the floor, then the guy pretended to kick open a door … [Read more...] about Students say NUS orientation camp games increasingly sexualised; some told to re-enact rape scene

‘Time needed’ to review varsity orientation camps

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is fully committed to comprehensively address the problem of sexualised activities at its orientation camps, but needs the time and space to do so over the next few weeks and months. In his first public comments on the furore over such activities, NUS president Tan Chorh Chuan said there are a wide range of issues to consider and it has called "a time-out" on student-organised orientation activities for now. NUS had announced the suspension of orientation activities last Friday, after it was reported that some students had complained about being pressured into taking part in risque orientation activities. These included the alleged re- enactment of an incestuous rape scene and a dunking incident involving Sheares Hall students. Yesterday, Prof Tan stressed that NUS does not approve of these. Addressing freshmen at the 2016 Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony yesterday, he said: "We make our stand very clear: We do not condone behaviour, … [Read more...] about ‘Time needed’ to review varsity orientation camps

Potential good news for Camp DARE

There’s a major development with Camp DARE that could see the South River-area facility turned into a site to address mental health issues facing young people. Camp DARE, which is short for Development Through Adventure, Responsibility and Education, is a detention facility for young men and is scheduled to close April 30 along with about two dozen similar facilities the provincial government operates in Ontario. DARE is operated by Wendigo Lake Expeditions and board president Stephen Glass told the Nugget that Todd Smith, the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, wants to arrange a meeting with Glass “to engage collaboratively about mental health and addictions, child welfare and Ontario youth.” Glass says Smith’s staff will call him soon to set up a date for a meeting. However, there’s more to suggest the Doug Ford government may be doing a 180 regarding Camp DARE’s future and the effort to keep it open in some capacity. “Much to our delight (Smith) went beyond that … [Read more...] about Potential good news for Camp DARE

Camp DARE has regularly faced tough times throughout its history

Camp DARE, the facility for troubled young males, has been around for half a century and through most of its existence, the facility has suffered financially. That’s according to Stephen Glass, the board president of Wendigo Lake Expeditions, which currently runs the facility. Glass says over the decades Project DARE has had strong supporters, including Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller and his riding predecessor, Ernie Eves. Glass says in the mid 1980s and late 1990s, Eves stepped in twice to oppose any closure of the facility or privatization effort unless the powers that be at the time could assure him DARE would still be able to carry on safely. Glass says during the privatization effort, Eves was finance minister, meaning he would have resisted his own government’s efforts in this instance to privatize without conditions. “Ernie had a real place in his heart for Project DARE,” Glass said. “He respected what it did.” But even through the Eves years, DARE saw program cuts. Glass … [Read more...] about Camp DARE has regularly faced tough times throughout its history

Paul Feig Might Direct a Female

Variety reports that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is in talks with Sony about directing a reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise with an all-comedic actress cast. Previously, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Feig would be replacing Ivan Reitman as director of Ghostbusters 3 , after Reitman dropped out due to the death of his friend and star Harold Ramis. Variety reports  that Sony is looking for Feig to start from scratch with a new script, rather than start where Reitman had left off. Sony itself hasn’t yet commented on the status of this, or any iteration of ghost busting. Sources Variety THR … [Read more...] about Paul Feig Might Direct a Female
