New Delhi: Bharti Airtel's recent USD 3 billion (about Rs 22,600 crore) fund raising has substantially alleviated pressure due to the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) lawsuit, according to S&P Global Ratings. The India-based telecom operator, however, is yet to demonstrate a longer-term and substantive recovery in performance from the protracted weakness in the country's telecom sector, it added. Bharti Airtel ratings has been affirmed with negative outlook, and it has been removed from CreditWatch. "We affirmed the ratings and removed them from CreditWatch because we view Bharti Airtel's recent USD 2 billion equity raising and USD 1 billion issuance of foreign-currency convertible bonds as having substantially mitigated the impact of the USD 4.8 billion lawsuit," it said in a statement. 12:43 a.m. Protesters call off visit to home of state schools chief: A group of protesters called off a visit to the Richmond home of state Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond on Thursday afternoon. They had initially said they would protest at his house to urge him to ban school boards from merging or permanently closing schools during the coronavirus crisis. They canceled after Thurmond agreed to meet with them. They were expected to remain in their cars to maintain social distancing requirements. Many of the activists are from Oakland, where the school board prior to the shelter-in-place mandates has been making decisions to close schools because of declining enrollment.
