China reports 33 new coronavirus cases

BEIJING: China reported 33 new coronavirus cases in the mainland for Friday compared to 36 cases a day earlier, the health commission said on Saturday (Nov 7). All the new infections were imported, according to a statement published by the National Health Commission. Earlier in the week, Beijing said it has banned foreign arrivals from France and a host of other countries amid efforts to close itself off from a world still battling the COVID-19 pandemic. The disease first emerged in central China late last year, but Beijing has largely brought its outbreak under control through tight travel restrictions and stringent health measures for anyone entering the country. Shooting incident near mall along Commonwealth Avenue in QC – police

MANILA, Philippines — Police confirmed a shooting incident near a mall located along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday evening. Police officers from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6 in Batasan Hills told INQUIRER.net that operatives were dispatched to the area to respond to an “ongoing” shooting incident, which, according to unconfirmed and sketchy reports, is happenig at a fast-food restaurant near the mall. In a tweet, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said two policemen were reportedly injured in the armed encounter. He also said the PRC sent a medical team to extend assistance. “Several gunshots were heard near the overpass at Ever Gotesco Mall at around 6:00 PM. Two PNP officers were reportedly wounded. Woman shot while driving on West Colfax Avenue in Denver dies at the hospital

A woman who was shot on West Colfax Avenue in Denver died Wednesday evening and police have identified one of the three suspects in the case. Pamela Cabriales, 32, died at Denver Health Medical Center of a gunshot wound, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. Her death is a homicide. Cabriales was shot, several times, at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when someone fired on the Range Rover she was driving on Colfax near I-25. Three people, two juveniles and a man, have been arrested as suspects in the case. Neshan Johnson, 18, is being held on suspicion of vehicular eluding and attempted first-degree murder, police said. The two juveniles have not been identified. One juvenile has been released from custody and the other juvenile is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, police said. ABFRL picks up 33.5% stake in Tarun Tahiliani brand to strengthen position in ethnic wear segment

Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail ( ABFRL ) has acquired 33.5% stake in Goodview Properties Private Limited (GPPL), the company founded by fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, for Rs 67 crore. The all-cash deal is expected to be completed in 45-60 days, ABFRL said in a statement. Under this partnership, ABFRL and Tahiliani will also form a new entity that will launch a contemporary men’s ethnic wear brand. ABFRL will hold 80% stake in the new entity while Tahiliani will hold the remaining 20%. The new brand, which will operate in the premium occasion wear segment at accessible price points, aims to build a Rs 500 crore business in the next five years with about 250 stores . The brand will roll out the first set of retail stores by September. Singapore lawyer linked to missing S$33 million was arrested in KL hotel: Malaysian police

SINGAPORE: Singapore lawyer Jeffrey Ong who allegedly went missing along with S$33 million from engineering firm Allied Technologies, was arrested last week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian police told CNA on Friday (Jun 7). The acting director of Malaysia’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Mr Saiful Azly Kamaruddin, told CNA that Ong was arrested on May 29 by officers from the Royal Malaysia Police at a hotel in the town of Cheras.
