The scientist behind the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus jab has been awarded a medal previously won by Winston Churchill. Professor Sarah Gilbert has been given the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) Albert Medal for her work on the vaccine. Prof Gilbert, who is lead researcher on the team, is Professor of Vaccinology in the Nuffield Department of Medicine at Oxford University. The RSA Albert Medal is awarded annually to recognise experts spearheading the solutions to “the challenges of our time”. Churchill scooped the gong in 1945 for leading the Allies to victory in the Second World War. Other past winners include Marie Curie for the discovery of radium; Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone; Stephen Hawking for boosting awareness of physics; and Tim Berners-Lee for creating the World Wide Web. Today let’s talk about a comprehensive new report on election integrity, and the particularly low marks it gave to one platform in particular. I. The 283-page report, which was published today, is called “ The Long Fuse: Misinformation and the 2020 Election .” It is the final work of a coalition of some of the most respected names in platform analysis in academia and the nonprofit world: the Stanford Internet Observatory, the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public, Graphika, and the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. This activity aims to encourage people in good health from all social strata to donate blood, helping to address the blood shortage in medical treatment after the Lunar New Year holiday, especially after a hiatus in donation activities due to the COVID-19 resurgence. Disease prevention measures were carried out to ensure safety for participants, organisers said. The event is expected to collect more than 210 blood units. Abiteboul’s Alpine F1 departure was a “shock” – Budkowski
Ahead of the 2021 F1 season, the former Renault team was rebranded to Alpine, the French manufacturer's sportscar brand. As part of the rebrand, the management structure of the Enstone also received an overhaul under new Renault CEO Luca de Meo. Long-time Renault employee Abiteboul left the company, with Alpine to be headed by the new brand CEO Laurent Rossi. Rossi decided not to appoint a traditional team principal to replace Abiteboul, those duties now split between executive director Budkowski and new racing director Davide Brivio, who joined the team from Suzuki's MotoGP squad. Bentley Bentayga Driven By Rhys Millen Revealed For Pikes Peak
The W12 monster wants to become the fastest production SUV in the history of the race. Following its initial announcement , Bentley has now revealed the 12-cylinder Bentayga , which will challenge the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 24 this year. It’s not a completely stock vehicle, despite the unmodified W12 engine with 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque, as it now features a roll cage and racing seats, onboard fire suppression system, and a custom exhaust system, developed by Akrapovic. In every other aspect, it’s going to be as close to production standard as possible.
