Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal launch production studio

Actor couple Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha have ventured into film production with the launch of Pushing Buttons Studios. In a statement, the duo said that the first film to be bankrolled under their new production banner is Girls Will Be Girls , written and directed by debutant Shuchi Talati. Set in a small Himalayan town, the film follows the story of a 16-year-old girl Mira and her mother. “The mother and daughter’s fraught but ultimately loving relationship is the beating heart of the film,” the statement adds. Says Richa, “The world that Shuchi has created is relatable, often cruel but never hopeless. Its honest awkwardness will make you chuckle, not weep. The dynamic between mother and daughter is under-explored in Indian and world cinema,” adding, “The mother in our story is complicated, grey and not a martyr.” Ali adds: “I am excited that our studio will enter the market with a progressive, female-led story.” The film’s director, Shuchi, is an Indian filmmaker based out of … [Read more...] about Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal launch production studio

It’s more a case of David and Goliath than “Batman v Superman.” Indeed, while the two conflicting parties grappling for their versions of the truth in HBO’s explosive four-part documentary “Allen v. Farrow” are both Hollywood celebrities, you don’t need to be an expert at rocket science to realize just how powerful one is compared to the other. We’re talking about four-time Oscar-winning writer-actor-director Woody Allen (“Annie Hall,” “Manhattan,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and his muse-turned-nemesis actress Mia Farrow (“Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby”). In the ’80s and early ’90s, the fabled couple did 13 films together. Woody, who’s now 85 years old, has made a film every year for 40 straight years, and is now preparing to shoot his 51st film—how prolific can you get? Dingdong Dantes with daughter Zia In his over two decades in show biz, Dingdong Dantes has, on many occasions, benefited from the expertise of stunt performers—the “unsung heroes” who protect and guide actors like him through the more dangerous aspects of filming. Led by the actor’s YesPinoy Foundation, #BeScene was held in July in collaboration with the Stunt Association of the Philippines (SAP) and the Seoul Action School (SAS), which worked on such acclaimed and popular films and television shows as “Okja,” “Train to Busan,” “Kingdom,” “Goblin” and “Mr. Sunshine.” “At one point in our careers, we actors had entrusted our lives to stunt actors, who put theirs at stake. Our projects wouldn’t be as successful … [Read more...] about Dingdong, #BeScene pay tribute to ‘unsung heroes’
