Data released by the BMC shows that despite the civic body’s claims of having 7,000 beds and 250 ICU beds vacant, on an average 58 Covid-19 patients have died every day in July. BJP MLA Ameet Satam has written to Chahal demanding an increase in the Rt-PCR testing. “The BMC must increase testing and investigate why so many deaths are taking place,” Satam said. Recovery rate at 90% Even as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Bhiwandi has seen a marked improvement, according to statistics shared by the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC). A civic official told Mirror that the BNCMC now had a recovery rate of nearly 90 per cent, with 3,311 patients discharged so far. Of these, five patients were discharged on Monday. The city currently has 129 coronavirus patients in various facilities. The doubling rate of cases in the city has also increased to 130 days, said BNCMC public relations officer Milind Palsule. The current doubling rate of coronavirus patients in Mumbai is 87 days and the recovery rate is 78 per cent, according to the BMC’s latest numbers.
