Jayda G adds a fresh sheen to the classic sounds of Nineties Basement Boys productions — think Ann Nesby and Sublevel — on “All I Need,” a springy collaboration with James Ford. The single follows last year’s “Both of Us,” a piano-house juggernaut that would have surely been playing on most dance floors if clubs had been in use at the time. The video for “All I Need” zooms back and forth between footage of an old rave in British Columbia and shots of Jayda G dancing happily in the same location. “While this type of older footage is common in the UK and Europe, the rave scene was not prominent in Canadian music culture at the time,” Jayda G said in a statement. “With the visuals placing me at this Nineties rave set in the B.C. wilderness, the watcher doesn’t know the difference between what is happening now and what was then, truly emulating the words and sentiments of the song in ‘how I feel now, how I feel then… nothing has changed.'” “All I Need” will appear on Jayda G’s … [Read more...] about Song You Need to Know: Jayda G, ‘All I Need’

SARS-Cov-2 model. Source: CDC Who’s been infected with the COVID-19 virus? Did you experience the virus, and never know? Many may be riveted by reports of 1 million worldwide cases as of today. Yet that is a severe undercount, with major implications for your health and national public and economic progress. Cases The definition of “case” varies radically around the world. In many countries, even people who died of coronavirus are not counted. In the U.S., it has been people who are sick and have found a place where they were able to get a swab PCR test for the presence of infection. I’ve already had patients with classic coronavirus symptoms who were refused tests because they did not have clear evidence of contact with someone who tested positive. That’s a nice Catch-22. If you don’t test, you don’t know. This is completely understandable from a public health point of view when the amount of tests and personal protective equipment is grossly inadequate. Photo: Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Imag In a blow to national vaccination efforts, the FDA and CDC on Tuesday recommended a “pause” in the use of Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot COVID-19 vaccine because at least six people had developed severe blood clots after receiving it. The link between the two is not yet known. Below is what we know about the pause, the blood-clot issue, and what it means. Dr. Janet Woodcock, acting FDA chief, says the agency expects the pause to last for only a matter of days. Agencies will convene a meeting on Wednesday to review cases and assess their potential significance given nearly 7 million Americans have received the shot with no major issue. The affected recipients were all between the ages of 18 and 48, with the clots showing up 6 to 13 days after immunization. One woman died, and one is in critical condition. There is not yet a clear explanation for the clots. What makes this type of clot – called cerebral venous … [Read more...] about What to Know About the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Pause
The NBA playoffs are underway and there can be a lot to unpack in a series of intense games, to help out we will give you the three things you need to know from the last 24 hours in the NBA. 1) Ben Simmons drives right to basket, into the heart of Brooklyn, leads Sixers to a road win. Jared Dudley has become enemy No. 1 in Philadelphia for saying out loud what has been in every scouting report on the 76ers all season: Jared Dudley dropping gems at media availability: "Ben Simmons is a great player in transition. And once you get him into halfcourt, he's average." — Stefan Bondy (@SBondyNYDN) April 17, 2019 Ben Simmons answered that with his best game of the playoffs Thursday night, driving to get to his right hand at the rim all night long, and the Nets could do nothing to stop him. Simmons was 9-of-10 from inside eight feet of the rim, took just one shot outside the paint all night (an 11-foot hook shot he banked in), scored 31 points and led Philadelphia to a … [Read more...] about Playoff Edition Three Things to Know: Ben Simmons drives right into Nets, earns 76ers win
The NBA playoffs are underway and there can be a lot to unpack in a series of intense games, to help out we will give you the three things you need to know from the last 24 hours in the NBA. THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Maybe there is something to having to win down the stretch of the regular season — to basically have your playoffs start early — when it comes to being ready for Game 1. 1) Joel Embiid is not himself and Sixers earn boos from fans in a loss to Nets. Sixers fans suffered through the losing of “The Process” for this? They know good basketball when they see it, but Sixers fans didn’t see it on Saturday in Game 1… well, not true, they saw it from a scrappy Nets team that picked up a 111-102 Game 1 win on the road. Philadelphia fans didn’t see it from their hometown Sixers, who looked tight. So the fans booed. My column: PHILADELPHIA — Booooooooo! -30- — Michael Lee (@MrMichaelLee) April 13, 2019 Ben Simmons did not appreciate that, saying “If you’re … [Read more...] about Playoff Edition Three Things to Know: Upset Saturday leaves Sixers, Raptors, Nuggets in hole
