Organizers say it’s important to make sure they can reach everyone. “It’s extremely important because first of all, we all need to get vaccinated, and particularly the Black and brown community needs to be vaccinated,” said Kenneth Huston, president of the NAACP Pennsylvania State Conference. “We know that this pandemic is a killer, and the NAACP in partnership with Rite Aid and other community partners throughout the state want to ensure and assure that everybody has the opportunity to get vaccinated.” More than 2,000 people got their vaccine at a clinic like this in Philadelphia. … [Read more...] about NAACP And Rite Aid Partner To Vaccinate Hundreds At Clinic In Penn Hills

Enriching walk with Mother Nature
LIKE walking into an oasis within an oasis, Penang Hill boasts of bypaths with myriad plants and trees that feel almost like a scene out of a fairy tale. A stroll along the 400m Bamboo Walk will leave one gasping in awe to see a tree with its gnarly roots exposed, taking one back to the scary trees scene in the Disney movie, Snow White. Upon learning further from Nature [email protected] Hill team director KP Ong, the leaves of this tree – Simpoh Gajah (Dillenia Reticulata King) – are used in Indonesia to pack meals as they keep the food fresh. The walkway boasts of a variety of bamboo plants and medicinal herbs, making it not only pleasing to the eye but educational. At Heliconia and Ginger Walk, the 450m path boasts a variety of colourful plants such as the Brazilian Red cloak and Red Ginger (Alpinia purpurata) which are part of the ginger family. The Moniot Trail 1825 is considered the main hidden gem as it is an all-natural trail that takes one through a pathway that narrows … [Read more...] about Enriching walk with Mother Nature

Georgetown’s caring spirit alive and well
I wanted to share with you an example of how the best of small-town values, beliefs and behaviours still exist in Georgetown, even during difficult times. I know this first hand because recently my mentally-challenged older brother went to walk our dog like he has done a thousand times over the years without incident. When he declined a ride home she was able to get our address and after she pointed him in the right direction with some water, she came to let me know, ensuring he would make it home safely. After following her to where she had left him, she not only tried to help me get my heedless dog in the … [Read more...] about Georgetown’s caring spirit alive and well
