Inside Kate Garraway’s peaceful sanctuary as Derek Draper finally comes home

Kate Garraway has shared glimpses inside her North London home which has now undergone a major renovation to make it accessible for her husband Derek Draper after his return from hospital. The former political lobbyist spent a year under the care of doctors following his devastating battle with coronavirus , but he has now finally returned to his wife and two kids Darcey and Billy. Before getting the green light form doctors, Good Morning Britain presenter Kate, 53, set about completely renovating the ground floor - adding a downstairs bedroom, a wet room and wheelchair ramps for her husband. In her documentary Finding Derek, Kate revealed she had added a hospital bed to the downstairs room and she planned to sleep in the room alongside him so they could be together. At the time, Kate explained: "'At the moment what we're doing, we've got an occupational therapist that deals with the lay out of the home, looking at putting in a wet room - basically, ground floor living. … [Read more...] about Inside Kate Garraway’s peaceful sanctuary as Derek Draper finally comes home

What a Last of Us PS5 remake could learn from Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and more to justify its own existence

Rumors that a Last of Us PS5 remake is in the works at Naughty Dog have been met with a mixed reception, and it's not hard to see why. The idea of one of Sony's most revered first-party studios being put to work on a remake of a game that came out just eight years ago gives the image of PlayStation playing it safe and self-satisfied at the beginning of a new-generation – a perception worryingly familiar for those of us who remember the early years of the PS3's life cycle. Admittedly, there is some business sense in a Last of Us remake, if indeed the reports are true. With The Last of Us TV show coming up, sales data suggesting the majority of PS5 purchasers have never owned a PlayStation console before , and a potential PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 looking more likely than ever, Sony is about to introduce a vast new audience to one of its biggest first-party franchises. What better way to acclimate and onboard these players than with a remake catching them up on the … [Read more...] about What a Last of Us PS5 remake could learn from Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and more to justify its own existence

Married at First Sight: A shocking rumour is finally exposed during the final dates

After the breakthroughs and breakups of yesterday's final Commitment Ceremony , we're entering the last weeks of the experiment. "Bec seems to be blaming me for all the issues [in their relationship]," Bryce tells Melissa; an interesting interpretation of the facts when you consider that Bryce's singular defence for his bullish behaviour is being goaded by the bride himself. But the Commitment Ceremony is the last thing on Bec's mind after she receives a call from home telling her that her dog Oscar is sick and in hospital. "Jake has been so great today. He's been so understanding," she says as she tells her husband she's choosing to go home to be with Oscar. In Wake of Several Mass Murders, Americans Once Again Debate Gun Ownership

NEW ORLEANS - In the wake of last month's deadly shootings in Colorado and Georgia, President Joe Biden recently announced six executive orders his administration believes will lead to some reduction in gun violence. The United States is unique among developed nations in the high number of gun-related deaths in the country. While nearly all Americans understand there's a problem, there are widely differing views on what's causing the epidemic of deaths, and how to solve it. Those contrasting opinions are on full display when discussing the March 22 mass shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado that left 10 innocent people dead. "Easy access to guns played a critical role in that shooting," explained Patrick Armstrong, whose father taught gun control law. Armstrong lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, which had the fourth-highest murder rate among large American cities in 2019. Armstrong said it's discouraging how easy it was for the suspect in Boulder to purchase the … [Read more...] about In Wake of Several Mass Murders, Americans Once Again Debate Gun Ownership

Karl May Museum returns Native American human scalp

Back in 2014, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians from the US state of Michigan sent a letter of complaint to the Karl May Museum in the eastern German state of Saxony. A US visitor to the museum had alerted the tribe to an item on display there: a human scalp. The museum, which is dedicated to the works of legendary German "Wild West" writer Karl May , initially refused to return it , saying the staff could not ascertain its origins. "This individual was taken without the authority to do so and placed in a museum to be shown like a picture on the wall," stated a 2015 report from the tribe, which set in motion a series of changes: a specially commissioned study, a new ethnographic specialist at the museum and mediation by the US State Department, which is now the custodian of the human remains on behalf of the Chippewa Indians. Native American exhibits feature at the museum on account of May's Winnetou books On Monday, the museum returned the human … [Read more...] about Karl May Museum returns Native American human scalp

Ivan Tapia’s baseball dreams transformed into a millionaire’s Reality

Kindly Share This Story: When Ivan Tapia was growing up in Tijuana, Mexico, he had a dream of becoming a professional baseball player. He was good and, soon, his talent invited offers from American universities. “When I was 18 I received temporary visa to start studying in Southwestern College in San Diego California, which for me was an amazing opportunity to play baseball in the USA,” he says. “But that summer I got hurt from my shoulder very bad and I could never get my potential back before I had the injury.” Reeling from the disappointment of that injury, Ivan threw his focus into his education and concentrated on graduating as an engineer. Upon graduating in 2007, he took a job with a small firm, but the realities of the 2008 financial crisis meant that he was soon out of a job.
