GOP Sen. Hagerty: Trump Led the ‘Most Consequential Presidency We Have Seen in My Lifetime’

Can former President Donald Trump unify the GOP? According to Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN), he can. During an interview that aired Monday on Mobile, AL radio’s FM Talk 106.5, the Tennessee Republican freshman U.S. Senator called the Trump presidency the “most consequential” of his life and vowed to push back against President Joe Biden’s efforts to take the country in the opposite direction. “If you think about the vision that Ronald Reagan brought forth, and I think his impact on the Republican Party is stronger than people probably imagined it at that point in time,” he explained. “And it transcended future administrations. Exclusive: Trump does not plan to ask US oil producers for coordinated cuts – official

WASHINGTON: The United States will not ask U.S. domestic oil companies for a coordinated cut in production to counter a historic meltdown in global prices and is still awaiting the details of planned cuts in Saudi Arabia and Russia, a senior administration official told Reuters on Thursday. Earlier, President Donald Trump said in a tweet that he expected Saudi Arabia and Russia to cut approximately 10 million barrels from daily production in a newly reached deal, a comment that sparked a jump in oil prices following weeks of steep declines that have threatened U.S. drillers. The official said details of planned reductions remained unclear, but a big cut was expected. Trump was set to meet with leaders of U.S. oil companies on Friday to discuss the state of the oil market. But he will not ask them to agree on a coordinated drop in supplies, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The official said the United States cannot orchestrate a mandated cut in domestic … [Read more...] about Exclusive: Trump does not plan to ask US oil producers for coordinated cuts – official

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Senate on Tuesday prepared to weigh a multibillion-dollar emergency spending bill passed by the House of Representatives offering economic relief from the coronavirus pandemic as the Trump administration pressed for US$850 billion more. The House of Representatives over the weekend passed a measure that would require sick leave for some workers and expand unemployment compensation among other steps, including nearly US$1 billion in additional money to help feed children, homebound senior citizens and others. Even before Congress passed its second measure in days, President Donald Trump's administration wants massive additional spending to help blunt the impact of the fast-spreading disease, which has sunk global financial markets and caused sweeping disruptions to the U.S. economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin planned to discuss the US$850 billion stimulus package the administration wants when meeting on Tuesday with Senate Republicans at the … [Read more...] about Senate weighs emergency coronavirus pandemic funds; Trump seeks US$850 billion more

Photograph: Carlos Barria/Reuters Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Committee in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, the 74-year-old leader, who left the White House on January 20, stopped short of announcing to run for the president in 2024, although he gave enough indications that he is moving in that direction. "We will take back the House. We will win the Senate and then a Republican president would triumph the White House. I wonder, who that will be," he said amidst cheers from his supporters at the annual session of the committee. Trump, however, ruled out forming a new party, arguing that such a move will split votes of … [Read more...] about We will prevail: Trump hints at 2024 presidential bid
