CHICOPEE (CBS) — Crews continued to look for missing Chicopee boy Aiden Blanchard on Wednesday, weeks after the 11-year-old went missing. Police said search efforts are focused on the Chicopee and Connecticut Rivers. Aiden was last seen on Feb. 5 walking toward the Medina Street boat ramp. He is about 5 feet tall and 100 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a red ski jacket and black ski pants. OXNARD, California: Divers found 25 bodies on Monday (Sep 2) after a pre-dawn fire sank a scuba diving vessel off a Southern California island, leaving nine people unaccounted for, as the US Coast Guard continued its search, media reported. Representatives for the Coast Guard's division in Los Angeles and the Santa Barbara, California, Sheriff's Office could not immediately confirm the reports from CBS News and the Associated Press, of the recovery operation in waters off Santa Cruz. The boat had nearly 40 people on board when the fire erupted, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown. The fire broke out aboard the Conception, a 75-foot (23-metre) boat, at about 3.15am while it was moored just off the shore of Santa Cruz Island, the Coast Guard said in a statement. The actress and former Miss World told the Associated Press about her experience with racism while in high school in the US as a teenager. She said: “I was treated differently because I’m brown. I had, you know, really racist behaviour when I was in high school in 10th grade. I was called ‘brownie’, ‘curry’, ‘go back on the elephant you came on’, and that really affected me when I was a kid and affected my self-esteem.” However, Chopra decided that she didn’t want to be a victim and wanted to make sure others didn’t feel the same way either. SINGAPORE: A man who was arrested a day after fleeing the court during proceedings was jailed for 11-and-a-half years on Thursday (Sep 26). Visvanathan Vadivelu, 50, was handed the jail term for one charge of armed robbery and three other drug-related charges, with five other charges taken into the consideration. Of his jail term, nine months was in lieu of caning, as he is 50 and cannot be caned. Visvanathan was supposed to be sentenced last Tuesday (Sep 17), but absconded during a 10-minute court break. He was still on court bail and therefore could not be taken into police custody during the break, the police said in a statement after. When he failed to show, his bail was revoked and a warrant of arrest issued. He was arrested a day later after his mother called the police, and he was remanded from Sep 19.
