J.J. Watt inspired by Reggie White for second chapter of NFL career

For the first time in his 10-year NFL career, star defensive end J.J. Watt will suit up for a new team during the 2021 season. This offseason, Watt signed a two-year contract worth up to $31 million to play for the Arizona Cardinals. Watt will be 32-years old for his 11th NFL season, the same age as Hall-of-Famer Reggie White was when he left the Philadelphia Eagles to join the Green Bay Packers for the second chapter of his career. White played for six more seasons with the Packers, totaling 68.5 sacks during that time. During a recent appearance on ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter’s podcast, Watt, a Wisconsin native, talked about growing up watching White with the Packers and how he hopes he can have the same success in the back-end of his career. "I only ever knew Reggie White from the age of 32 on and I've obviously seen him accomplish incredible things in his career," said Watt, who had just turned 4 when White chose to go to Green Bay. "I know exactly how my body feels right … [Read more...] about J.J. Watt inspired by Reggie White for second chapter of NFL career

Investigators say Cilurso left the 18 threatening voicemails over the course of five separate days in February. NHL Mock Draft: Who gets selected after Alexis Lafrenière?

By Ryan Wagman, McKeen’s Hockey lead prospect writer After months of waiting, the NHL Draft is suddenly, almost surprisingly, upon us. Round 1 will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN ( livestream ) and Rounds 2-7 be Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET on NHL Network. With so much about 2019-20 that didn’t go according to plan (but some that did – congratulations to the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning!) and so much still unknown about what we can expect out of a 2020-21 season, a draft now seems somewhat anticlimactic. But outside of the fact that hundreds of players and their families – not to mention your humble analyst – will not be gathered in one cavernous hockey arena to experience the event together, there is still a lot to be excited about as we seek to put this traumatizing year behind us and look to a brighter future. I think that is something that fans of all 31 teams can get behind. The contents of this final mock NHL draft are based on the … [Read more...] about NHL Mock Draft: Who gets selected after Alexis Lafrenière?

Alabama Confederate Memorial Worth $500K Held Hostage by ‘White Lies Matter’ Group

A Confederate monument worth $500,000 is being held for ransom by an anti-racism group calling itself White Lies Matter. The stone chair, which was dedicated to Confederate President Jefferson Davis, was taken by the group from the Old Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama, last month, according to local media reports. Now White Lies Matter is demanding that the organization United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) hang a banner with a specific quote outside its headquarters in Virginia in order for the Confederate monument to be returned. If UDC fails to do so on April 9, White Lies Matter has threatened to turn the stone chair into a toilet. "Failure to do so will result in the monument, an ornate stone chair, immediately being turned into a toilet," White Lies Matter wrote to AL.com. "If they do display the banner, not only will we return the chair intact, but we will clean it to boot." The organization said it already sent the banner to UDC. The quote on the banner reportedly … [Read more...] about Alabama Confederate Memorial Worth $500K Held Hostage by ‘White Lies Matter’ Group
