Ford v Ferrari: Why there needs to be a Le Mans 1966 sequel

I really enjoyed James Mangold’s retelling of the Ford v Ferrari story , in which Christian Bale utterly nails the grouchy-but-brilliant Ken Miles and Matt Damon uses his considerable acting talent to counter his physical deficiency playing larger-than-life Texan Carroll Shelby. The tale ends, of course, (spoiler alert!) with Miles’s sad demise testing the J-car at Riverside California. Read Also: Opinion: Why the director of Ford v Ferrari took a major risk But endings are often just the beginning, especially in Hollywood. In his exclusive interview with our David Malsher, Bale thought Le Mans ’66 was “one of the best scripts I’ve ever read” when he first saw it in 2011. Well, Christian, although you’re out of the casting frame for the sequel for obvious reasons, how about this plotline… Christian Bale Photo by: 20th Century Fox Following Miles’s death, the J-Car project is scrapped in favor of a new GT40, the Mk IV. designed and built (unlike the ’66 … [Read more...] about Ford v Ferrari: Why there needs to be a Le Mans 1966 sequel

Dyip the faith (and drink the Kool-Aid)

The proposed trade that would send scoring machine CJ Perez from Terrafirma Dyip to the San Miguel Beermen in exchange for a bunch of bench players and a first-round draft pick is as fair as Snow White’s skin. In fact, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial should approve it right away and not even punt it to the trade committee. We should all accept as bible truth when Terrafirma Dyip team governor Bobby Rosales says that trading Perez and his nearly 25 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists average per game for Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Gelo Alolino, Russel Escoto, and a first-round pick is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Personally, me thinks it’s a really balanced trade since Perez could easily morph into the second coming of Christian Standhardinger, who was taken by the SMB franchise in 2018 in exchange for — you guessed it — a bunch of bench players from the Beermen (BTW, I also believe the Leaning Tower of Pisa is straight). Standhardinger had a good rookie year and helped San … [Read more...] about Dyip the faith (and drink the Kool-Aid)

Aquadot!red

Pac 'em in Pac Man clones have been a staple of computer gaming since the original arcade game burst on the scene in the early 1980s. angelFrogGames' variation, aquadot!red ( ), is a pretty and unique variation that sports its own maze editor, so when you tire of the built-levels you can build your own. Gameplay is simple and, if you've ever played Pac Man in your life, immediately familiar. You maneuver a red polka-dotted ball around a maze to collect dots, and you're chased by enemy bugs. Eating "Munch" dots makes it possible for you to eat the bugs, too. But that's about where the comparisons to Pac Man end, because aquadot!red features considerably deeper gameplay. Each different bad bug has a unique attack style, for example. The red Hunter is single-minded in her pursuit of you, her quarry. The blue Blocker wants to get in front of you, so you can reverse direction to foil her pretty easily. The purple Lone Wolf is invisible until she's almost right on top of … [Read more...] about Aquadot!red

Crunch time for under-fire Solskjaer

MAN Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is once again the favourite with the bookies to get the sack. This has been a position that the Norwegian has been all too familiar with in a so far inconsistent season for the Red Devils. Man Utd were dumped out of the Champions League in midweek by German side RB Leipzig and today face a crucial derby at Old Trafford against neighbours Man City and anything less than a positive result against their hated rivals will surely put Solskjaer under more intense pressure. Man Utd were sloppy in their defeat in Germany and a loss was exactly what they deserved as their defence was in sixes and sevens trying to stop the Leipzig attack. Having started with impressive wins over PSG and a 5-0 home thrashing of Leipzig, the exit from the Champions League is a painful and frustrating one to take. Poor defending has dominated the side’s performances so far this season but the inconsistency of the squad is baffling, especially when playing at home. Their … [Read more...] about Crunch time for under-fire Solskjaer
