Buttler's scintillating knock of 124 off 64 balls and captain Sanju Samson's 48, powered Royals to a mammoth 220/3 in 20 overs. Buttler - whose bat had been mostly silent in the tournament so far - played one of his finest knocks in the shortest format. The explosive right-handed batsman pummelled 11 fours and eight sixes in his knock. Along with Samson, he strung a record partnership of 150 runs for the second wicket and the duo played some exquisite shots during their stay into the middle. Buttler, initially, batted with caution as he notched up his fifty off 39 deliveries. But the swashbuckler unleashed his beast mode later on and took every bowler on remand and scored at his will. It was Buttler's incredible hittings that helped the Royals post their highest total of the season. For a dozen laps near the end of last Sunday’s race in Kansas, it appeared Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ross Chastain , hovering around the top five, would create a new best moment for his 2021 season. It’d perhaps surpass his most memorable moment to date — an attempt at viral marketing that didn’t occur on the racing surface — but swept away in a bevy of cautions and restarts, a highlight result failed to materialize. He finished 14th. To casual observers, Chastain’s been invisible for the majority of his first full season in playoff-caliber Cup Series equipment, but that might not be an indictment on his driving ability. Similarly, Kurt Busch fell below the playoff cutoff following a nondescript 15th-place Kansas finish with no stage points, piloting equipment from the same source. The current Ganassi lineup consists of an aging former champion (Busch) and an unproven Cup driver who came at a relative pittance (Chastain). How they were built around for the 2021 season suggests … [Read more...] about Analysis: Strengths present, not always utilized by Ganassi teams

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has called Apple's defense of its ebook practices "unconvincing" in a filing related to an upcoming antitrust case. Apple stands accused of colluding with major publishers to raise the price of ebooks with the launch of its iBooks app and store. The publishers and Apple have defended their actions as an attempt to break Amazon's grip on the market. However, all five of the named publishers in the case have settled with the DoJ, accepting terms that would prevent similar collusion from occurring again and leaving Apple alone to fight its corner. Jobs told Murdoch to "throw in with Apple" to defeat Amazon In a filing yesterday, the DoJ detailed an email sent by Apple's Steve Jobs to News Corporation's Rupert Murdoch — News Corp. is the parent company of HarperCollins, one of the publishers named in the original complaint. In the email, Jobs told Murdoch he could either continue to have Amazon price ebooks at $9.99, or "throw in with Apple … [Read more...] about US DoJ calls Apple’s ebook antitrust defense ‘unconvincing,’ presents Steve Jobs email as evidence

Britain’s governing Conservatives have had a good night in local elections across the United Kingdom, with bellwether constituency Nuneaton’s Tory leader saying he is “absolutely ecstatic” over the landslide there. Councils, local authorities, police and crime commissioners, and regional mayors were all up for election across parts of the United Kingdom on Thursday. While many areas do not count overnight, Nuneaton and Bedworth — a favourite for political watchers as a borough with a good track record of declaring early and being a strong indicator of the national trend — has declared already, and has shown a historic performance for the Conservatives. On an embarrassing night for the troubled Labour party, the red mayor, local party leader, and deputy party leader all lost their seats to Conservatives. In all, the Tories won 15 of the 17 seats up for grabs, giving the Conservatives 24 seats on the council to Labour’s 7. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has been controlled … [Read more...] about Tory Juggernaut Rolls On: ‘Bellwether State’ Nuneaton Sees Labour Crushed in Local Elections
