What is it like getting the Covid-19 vaccine? This healthcare marketing personnel shares her experience

In December last year, Singapore kick-started its Covid-19 vaccination exercise, with priority now given to healthcare and frontline workers as well as seniors. Some things to note about the vaccine: According to the Ministry of Health’s website (as of Feb 22, 2021), only the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines have been authorised for pandemic use by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), and both comprise two doses. And if you don’t book an appointment within 30 days of receiving the SMS invitation from the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the vaccination, your turn would be considered forfeited. The SMS should also end with a “.gov.sg”, according to the ministry’s website. We spoke to Ms. Evonne Ng, the head of marketing for Mizu Aesthetic Clinic at Marina Bay Link Mall, who got hers this month (Feb 2021), to share more about her experience. She tells us, “I’m in the healthcare industry and was nominated by my clinic to receive it. I decided to get it as the … [Read more...] about What is it like getting the Covid-19 vaccine? Government agencies have fixed 80% of high-risk data security issues found in review: SNDGG

SINGAPORE: Government agencies have rectified about 80 per cent of "high-risk" data security issues that were found in a recent review, and work is under way to introduce new systems to improve user access security, the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG) told CNA. Findings of the review were released last November, after a Public Sector Data Review Committee inspected 336 systems across 94 public sector agencies. It was part of a major review to better protect the public's personal data. In its report, the committee said that about three-quarters of agencies had at least one finding of non-compliance with a government manual on data policies and standards. Sixty-four per cent of agencies were rated “low-risk”, 23 per cent were rated “medium-risk” and the remaining 13 per cent were rated “high-risk”. The most common shortcomings found were in the management and monitoring of privileged user accounts, user access reviews, as well as the encryption of emails with … [Read more...] about Government agencies have fixed 80% of high-risk data security issues found in review: SNDGG

IN FOCUS: The implications of a delayed transition to Singapore’s next generation of leaders

SINGAPORE: The transition to Singapore’s next leadership had seemed largely settled at the beginning of 2020. The wheels had been set in motion long before, with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong saying as early as 2012 that he aimed to hand over the reins of power by the age of 70 in 2022. There was some uncertainty about the process when a PM-designate had failed to emerge by the end of 2017, prompting Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to "nudge" the process along with a Facebook post that said: "One urgent challenge I would like to see settled is our fourth generation leadership." The younger political office holders, dubbed the fourth generation – or 4G – leaders, chose current Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat as "first among equals" by early 2018. Then COVID-19 struck, the economy tanked and the transition, like almost everything else in the midst of this pandemic, was facing potential issues. The transfer of power to a fourth prime minister, which was expected … [Read more...] about IN FOCUS: The implications of a delayed transition to Singapore’s next generation of leaders
