Sirius XM launches SkyDock radio for iPhone

Apps like Pandora Radio and AOL Radio have brought the wonders of commercial internet radio to every iPod Touch and iPhone. Given their success, it was only a matter of time before the established name of satellite radio made its debut on our favorite gadget. The problem is that the iPhone and iPod Touch hardware, by itself, isn’t capable of directly receiving a satellite radio signal. To fix that, SIRIUS XM Radio has announced the XM Skydock , a $120 accessory that allows any iPod Touch or iPhone to receive the benefits of a commercial-free XM radio subscription. The Skydock works with the free XM Skydock app to provide a pleasant, touch-friendly interface to browse through XM radio channels. The app will store up to 12 of your favorite channels of commercial-free music, live sports, news, and exclusive XM radio content on the app’s home screen. The home screen also provides easy access to tagging music and XM traffic and weather reports in the United States’s 20 most … [Read more...] about Sirius XM launches SkyDock radio for iPhone

Joe Biden’s Executive Order on Voting Tells Agencies to Push Vote-by-Mail, ‘Combat Misinformation’

President Joe Biden issued an executive order on “access to voting” on Sunday that instructs federal government agencies to promote voter registration, help Americans apply to vote by mail, and “combat misinformation,” among other measures. The “ Executive Order on Promoting Access to Voting ” reads like a Democratic Party wish-list of “reforms” that enshrines many of the practices that were adopted on a temporary basis during the pandemic-affected 2020 election. Its provisions include: using federal agencies to promote voter registration; using federal agencies to inform Americans about voting; linking federal agency websites to state voter registration websites; providing voter registration and vote-by-mail applications; using “approved, nonpartisan third-party organizations” to register voters at federal agencies; using identification documents issued by the agency to help people register to vote; providing more multilingual services to potential voters; … [Read more...] about Joe Biden’s Executive Order on Voting Tells Agencies to Push Vote-by-Mail, ‘Combat Misinformation’

Pollak: Nancy Pelosi Is the Big Winner in $1.9 Trillion ‘COVID Relief’ Bill

President Joe Biden hailed the Senate passage of his $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill on Saturday, clearing the way for the legislation to reach his desk. He claimed it was necessary to fight the pandemic, and to revive the ailing economy. Neither of those claims stands up to close scrutiny. Vaccines are rolling out, thanks to former President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed, and the economy is already recovering, thanks to Trump’s policies and the refusal of Republican-governed states to shut down. The new COVID relief package could help, with more money for the fight against the pandemic, and more relief for ailing families. But it could also hurt, by overheating the economy in a way that causes inflation to rise and forces the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. That, in turn, will damage growth and job creation. The truth is that much of the $1.9 trillion package is intended to reward Democrat-governed states and left-wing interest groups. As with the 2009 … [Read more...] about Pollak: Nancy Pelosi Is the Big Winner in $1.9 Trillion ‘COVID Relief’ Bill

California Recall Campaign: We Have the Signatures to Recall Gavin Newsom

Leaders of the campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom announced Sunday that they have gathered nearly 2 million signatures — half a million more than required, more than a week before the deadline to force a recall vote. Recall Gavin Newsom (Joel Pollak / Breitbart News) The Sacramento Bee reported : Leaders of the effort to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday they’ve collected 1.95 million signatures a little more than a week before the deadline, a number they believe will be more than enough to trigger a special recall election. County and state elections officials still need to verify that nearly 1.5 million are valid signatures from registered California voters before the recall can qualify for the ballot. But recall supporters said Sunday that they’re confident they’ve collected enough. The most recent signature verification numbers from the Secretary of State’s Office found that about 83% of the signatures counted by early February … [Read more...] about California Recall Campaign: We Have the Signatures to Recall Gavin Newsom

New Rokr phone eschews iTunes for iRadio

Motorola’s new Rokr E2 phone will use a new service called iRadio instead of iTunes, reports Reuters . Its predecessor, the Rokr E1, was Motorola’s first cell phone to feature Apple’s iTunes software. iRadio functions similarly to satellite radio such as offerings from XM or Sirius — users can listen to hundreds of commercial-free radio stations featuring specific formats, such as classic music, jazz, rock and more. In conjunction with an iRadio-compatible mobile phone, you can listen to music on the go, and even play through your auto or home stereo using Bluetooth wireless networking. iRadio allows users to program six channels and uses flash memory to store audio. Compatible only with Windows XP-based computers (at least for now), users can connect to a computer through a USB interface to add new content. Motorola said the first phone to feature iRadio will be the forthcoming Rokr E2, the followup to the Rokr E1 — the first phone to feature iTunes built-in. Motorola … [Read more...] about New Rokr phone eschews iTunes for iRadio
