Kindly Share This Story: By Simon Ifeanyi Ezeh The Psalmist proclaimed in Ps 23 that the Lord is his Pastor, that he lacks nothing! Please, take time to read and re-read this Psalm to find out what would be your lot if God (Jesus Christ) were your Pastor …and compare it with what has been your lot since man has been your pastor. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. If you’ve just read through this Psalm with good understanding, you would see how loaded it is with wonderful benefits. There is no good thing that is not provided therein and that’s the beauty of having the Almighty as one’s pastor … [Read more...] about Who is your Pastor?

Why India needs an independent media
The government is attempting everything it can to make sure that this does not happen, observes Aakar Patel. Illustration: Uttam Ghosh/ Rediff.com I finished writing a book called the Price of the Modi Years a few days ago. It should be published later this year. It is a history of India since 2014 and I have examined the facts and the data on various parts of the polity like the economy, national security, governance, the judiciary and so on. I do not want to talk about the contents of the book because it has too much detail and in any case some of my views may already be familiar to readers. What I did want to talk about was where some of the material was taken from. Of the sources that have been quoted in the book, the one that has been cited most -- 85 times -- is a Web site called TheWire.in . Another Web site, Scroll.in has been cited 54 times. In comparison, the Times of India has 37 citations. The reason for this is that I have found that … [Read more...] about Why India needs an independent media

Photograph: Kolkata Knight Riders/Twitter Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Sandeep Warrier wants to learn from fellow KKR seamers Pat Cummins and Lockie Ferguson in IPL 2021. Warrier, who will be playing his third season with KKR, has come a long way in rediscovering himself as a bowler. T20s made him a thinking cricketer and helped him realise the importance of time management. 'The day when KKR picked up Pat Cummins, I messaged Abhishek sir ( KKR Assistant Coach Abhishek Nayar ) saying 'I'm not going to let him go away from me. I'll be behind him throughout the two months, you just tell me how I do that',' Warrier said. 'He is one of the best bowlers you can have right now in the team. I would want to learn from him a lot, not only about T20 cricket or white-ball cricket but also Test cricket,' Warrier, who plays for Kerala in domestic cricket, added. I 'I want to learn how he … [Read more...] about Warrier keen to learn from Cummins
Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain, review: This bloated Noughties nostalgia rush did Goody a disservice
A s the alumni of this year’s Love Island readjust to the outside world and try to parlay their 15 minutes of fame into provincial panto roles and protein-shake endorsement deals, Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain (Channel 4) was a salutary lesson. Ten years after the death of Jade Goody , this documentary traced her meteoric rise and tragic fall . When the Bermondsey dental nurse with drug addict parents appeared in the 2002 series of Big Brother, she was initially vilified. Snobs dismissed her as “thick”. Tabloids cruelly caricatured her as a “chav” and a “pig”. Gradually, though, Goody won over millions with her wit, warmth and guileless honesty. By the time she was voted out of the Big Brother house, she was a media sweetheart, made a fortune and even considered running for Mayor of London. The mind boggles. Here, archive footage provoked a Noughties nostalgia rush, back to when Big Brother and Pop Idol were in their pomp, before reality TV saturation. The film … [Read more...] about Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain, review: This bloated Noughties nostalgia rush did Goody a disservice
