Zack Snyder’s Justice League Posters Assemble the Ultimate DC Superhero Team in Black & White

We have some brand new posters for Zack Snyder's Justice League , this time in black and white. HBO Max is gearing up to release the fabled Snyder Cut later this month and the marketing machine is ramping up. In this case, we have a few new looks at the team gathered together as they get ready to face down Darkseid and Steppenwolf. The posters feature Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Cyborg in various arrangements. In each case, they look very much like the heroes fans have come to expect in the DCEU . But instead of being bathed in color, the studio has opted to release this particular batch in black and white. This is, at least in part, because Zack Snyder intends to release a black and white version of the movie as well. Warner Bros. spent an extra $70 million or so to make this happen (on top of the original, massive $300 million budget). They might as well get their money's worth. Hello Kitty Movie Is Officially Happening, Will Be a Live-Action / Animation Hybrid

New Line has put in the order for a Hello Kitty movie. Described as an animated/live-action hybrid, the movie will likely bring an animated version of the popular cartoon cat into the real world, similar to the new Tom and Jerry movie. Plot details are firmly under wraps at this time. Jennifer Coyle ( DC Super Hero Girls , Bob's Burgers ) and Leo Matsuda ( Inner Workings ) have been tapped to direct Hello Kitty . The screenplay comes from Known Universe's Lindsey Beer, who's also attached to co-write an upcoming female-led Fast & Furious spinoff alongside Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. RELATED: Hello Kitty Movie Is Happening at New Line In a statement, New Line president/Chief Creative Officer Richard Brener said the studio was "extremely lucky to have found in Jennifer and Leo, two directors who not only share a profound connection to the unforgettable characters Shintaro Tsuji and Sanrio have created over the past 40+ years with Hello … [Read more...] about Hello Kitty Movie Is Officially Happening, Will Be a Live-Action / Animation Hybrid

Avengers 4 to Be Chris Evan’s Final Movie as Captain America?

Marvel fans have always known that the actors playing their favorite heroes can't keep it up forever, even though we would all love to see them do it. We've known for a while that Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 are going to serve as a big shakeup for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it looks like one of the biggest impacts of these movies is that it may be the last time we see Chris Evans as Captain America. Esquire recently ran a very in-depth and wide ranging cover story on Chris Evans , who has been playing Cap since 2011. He reportedly signed a six-picture deal to play the beloved Marvel Character and by the time Avengers 4 is done, his contractual obligations will be over with and it looks like he doesn't plan on doing any more after that. Here is an excerpt from the Esquire story that points to that being the case. Darth Vader helmet among Hollywood treasures in S$14m auction

Darth Vader's helmet from The Empire Strikes Back is among a vast collection of coveted Hollywood treasures going under the hammer next month, with experts predicting it could fetch nearly US$500,000 (S$690,000). The mask and helmet is one of only a handful worn by actor David Prowse, who played Luke Skywalker's nemesis and – spoiler alert – father on-screen in the 1980 Star Wars blockbuster, making them the "holy grail" of science fiction artifacts, according to auction organisers. "The catalogue estimate is US$250,000 to US$450,000, and you never know what something will go for until it crosses the block – it could well exceed that," said Zach Pogemiller of auctioneer Profiles in History. "Star Wars is always popular. It's never been hotter than it is right now, with the franchise continuing as strongly as it is." The Icons And Legends Of Hollywood sale will take place Sep 25 and 26 in Los Angeles, with nearly 1,000 lots together expected to sell for over US$10 million. … [Read more...] about Darth Vader helmet among Hollywood treasures in S$14m auction

‘The White Tiger’ Author Aravind Adiga On Director Ramin Bahrani And Their Celluloid Bond – Guest Column

Editors note: Aravind Adiga won the Man Booker Prize in 2008 for his debut novel The White Tiger , which his old Columbia University classmate Ramin Bahrani turned into the movie that has been generating awards buzz since its Netflix release in January. Adiga penned a guest column for Deadline about how the pair became fast friends by bonding over Scorsese films in Bahrani’s dorm room, a kinship that has lasted ever since. Back in 1993, the idea that any living writer could come near the Russian novelist Dostoevsky in greatness would have struck me and my undergraduate friends at Columbia University as blasphemy. But this was precisely the claim that a fellow student was making one night as we were studying at the library. Even more shockingly, he was claiming that a living American filmmaker named Scorsese was as good as Dostoevsky. He had a video back in his dorm room that would prove it. Anyone want to see it? He even had Iranian snacks in the freezer sent by his … [Read more...] about ‘The White Tiger’ Author Aravind Adiga On Director Ramin Bahrani And Their Celluloid Bond – Guest Column

The Significance Behind the Movies That Pop Up in

Marooned Photo: Columbia Pictures Roma is a movie built on memories, specifically the memories of its writer-director, Alfonso Cuarón, even if the film is not his story. Instead, he lets the focus falls on Cleo ( Yalitza Aparicio ), a character inspired by Libo Rodriguez, the Cuarón family’s live-in housekeeper and nanny who helped raise him. But Cuarón brings to it a sense of detail drawn from a deep well of childhood memories, from the car that doesn’t quite fit in the carport to a radio station’s “Beatles vs. Credence” programming, to comic books, to — of course — the movies. However incidentally, the Netflix-distributed film that’s inspired the most passionate debate yet about whether it should be seen in theaters or will play just as well at home contains two memorable trips to the movies, excursions to the lush movie palaces and packed houses of Cuarón’s youth. And both feature snippets of films that would have played in the years in which the film takes place, … [Read more...] about The Significance Behind the Movies That Pop Up in
