NEW DELHI: Some Indian midcap and smallcap names from consumption, pharma and gas distribution segments may find entry in the MSCI India index in the forthcoming index recast. The half-yearly review for MSCI India index will be announced tomorrow and will be applicable from June 1, 2020. Brokerage ICICIdirect in a note said the possible inclusion candidates are likely to be from among Tata Consumer Products, Biocon, Indraprastha Gas and Torrent Pharma. The selection happens based on the criterion of higher free float market-cap . Stocks named above have been resilient in the current bear market. Torrent Pharma is up 35 per cent year to date, Biocon 20 per cent, Indraprastha Gas 16 per cent and Tata Consumer Products 11 per cent against a 24 per cent drop in India’s benchmark indices.
