In his first public speech since leaving office, former United States president Donald Trump has called for Republican Party unity while indicating that he might launch a third presidential bid in 2024 even as he slammed the Biden administration, claiming that the country has gone from 'America First' to 'America Last' in just one month. Photograph: Carlos Barria/Reuters Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Committee in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, the 74-year-old leader, who left the White House on January 20, stopped short of announcing to run for the president in 2024, although he gave enough indications that he is moving in that direction. "We will take back the House. We will win the Senate and then a Republican president would triumph the White House. Dow up 4.9% as US stocks end volatile session sharply higher
NEW YORK: Wall Street stocks finished a topsy-turvy session sharply higher on Tuesday (Mar 10) in anticipation of US stimulus measures as oil prices bounced. A day after suffering its worst decline in more than 11 years, the Dow Jones Industrial Average piled on 1,167.14 points (4.89 per cent) to reach 25,018.16. The broad-based S&P 500 also jumped 135.67 points (4.94 per cent) to 2,882.23, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index gained 393.58 points (4.95 per cent) to 8,344.25. Analysts expect the volatility to continue in light of uncertainty of how much the coronavirus will spread in the United States, the extent it further dampens activity in the world's biggest economy and the robustness of the US policy response. "I don't think everyone is going to go out today fully confident that the bottom is in," said Briefing.com analyst Patrick O'Hare. The market "is sniffing something coming down the pike," O'Hare said of an expected government stimulus, before adding … [Read more...] about Dow up 4.9% as US stocks end volatile session sharply higher

"This is like an Egyptian plague," said Argentinian hotelier Patricia Duran, who has seen bookings dry up for her two establishments near the famous Iguazu Falls.
