MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Tampa woman went before a Miami judge Wednesday morning after police say she shot a man several times in front of his 8-year-old daughter. Quanesha Lewis, 34, is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and child abuse. READ MORE: Plantation Man Accused Of Scamming $300,000 From Elderly Residents Some witnesses say it began with an argument about leaving a tip at a Miami Hooters on Coral Way. Aileen Campbell is the mother of the little girl and ex-wife of the victim, Darren Campbell. Speaking virtually in court, she made an impassioned plea to the judge. “I pray that you don’t let this person out,” she said. “Because who would have the heart to shoot a father and a little girl walking out? Lately, I have been thinking a fair bit about decision-making. COVID-19 has confronted us with a range of significant choices: about whether, and to what degree, to embrace lockdowns, about closing and reopening elementary schools, about who should get the vaccine first, and so on. As we have engaged with these choices, there have been people on both sides making good-faith cases for their point of view. There are some who feel lockdowns should remain in place until vaccines are widely distributed; there are others who feel a phased reopening is both feasible and necessary for countering the economic consequences of the pandemic. There are some who think vaccine priority should be guided exclusively by who is likeliest to die from the virus and there are some who favor an equity-based approach that accounts for the historic disadvantage that … [Read more...] about Social Media Is Clouding Our Judgment About Health
Warning: The following recap of WandaVision , Episode 9 “The Series Finale” contains some major spoilers: First off, if the title of the episode is any indication, we definitely won’t be getting a second season of WandaVision. Marvel Boss Kevin Feige told the press at TCA last week “to never say never” when it comes to a season 2 of the Elizabeth Olsen-Paul Bettany Disney + Marvel series, but it’s certainly clear now that the series will bridge to the movies Captain Marvel 2 (or upcoming Disney+ Secret Invasion series) as expected and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . In regards to how the finale directed by Matt Shakman and written by Jac Schaeffer extends to those big pics, read on. However, to clear up a few big things that some were expecting and did not occur: Big bad villain Mephisto never revealed himself, and as of this moment, Agnes’ husband Ralph doesn’t appear to be Mephisto. Later on in the episode as Monica Rambeau … [Read more...] about ‘WandaVision’ “The Series Finale” Recap: What Now For Scarlet Witch, Vision & The Kids?
SINGAPORE - Volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous - the acronym Vuca is a buzzword bandied about in management circles, but it aptly describes parenting during the pandemic too, say the experts in an upcoming event. "The future we thought would happen is now our present. As a parent, it means that all the more we have to empower our children with the necessary mindset and tools to be able to remain adaptable in the face of such massive change," says Ms Sha-En Yeo, 39, an expert in positive psychology who runs a consultancy called Happiness Scientists. "Instead of buckling down on fear, we can use the pandemic as a huge teaching and learning opportunity for our children," adds the mother of two children aged 11 and six. She is one of six panellists who will be participating in an online fireside chat titled Parenting In A Vuca World on Saturday. The event is organised by the Asia Institute of Mentoring, which aims to build a mentoring community across the region. Ms Yeo … [Read more...] about Parenting in a pandemic: How to take care of yourself and your kids
