NINTENDO could soon unveil its first-ever 4K gaming console. A very convincing leak has poured fuel on the fire for rumours about a Nintendo Switch Pro. The original Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017, to phenomenal success. Currently the Nintendo Switch is only capable of running Full HD 1080p games while docked – or HD 720p in handheld mode. That's despite rivals offering 4K gaming, and 4K TVs now being cheaper and more common. Now tech blog WinFuture and Twitter user OatmealDome have flagged details about a possible new console in a recent Nintendo Switch firmware update. One is a line that references ‘Cradle Aula’, which is reportedly the codename for the new Switch dock. It suggests that the dock can receive updates itself, rather than being a simple stand with several ports. NINTENDO Switch consoles could be even harder to find than usual this year. A warning from Nintendo’s boss says a global chip shortage is causing havoc for the firm. Since last year, chips for phones, consoles, cars and other electronics have been in short supply. It’s meant a number of products have been delayed, cancelled or released with limited supply. The Nintendo Switch is already wildly popular and regularly sells out – especially around the holiday season. From free game offerings to signing exclusivity deals with third party developers, Epic has been somewhat successful at pulling more customers to its platform, but at what cost? As detailed in the company's court filings in the lawsuit against Apple, Epic reported a $181 million loss in 2019 and $273 million in 2020 on the Games Store alone. Epic Games and Apple's legal feud has been going on since last August. Back then, Apple decided to remove Fortnite from the App Store after the developer introduced an alternative payment method to bypass the App Store's 30% cut. In preparation for the upcoming trial, scheduled for May 3, 2021, both Apple and Epic have filed their respective "Proposed Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law," unveiling some interesting data.
