Who is Agatha Harkness? The WandaVision villain’s comic book history explained

This week's WandaVision episode 7 reveals some dark truths about what's going on in Westview, and introduces a surprise (but somewhat expected) Marvel Comics character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spoilers ahead for WandaVision episode 7 WandaVision episode 7 reveals that nosey neighbor Agnes is actually Marvel Comics witch Agatha Harkness in disguise. And what's more, she's been manipulating the events in Westview since the start of the show, having been faking being one of the brainwashed residents of the illusory New Jersey town since the beginning (she even admits she killed Sparky! Very evil, not very nice). Though Agatha Harkness's comic book history doesn't exactly reflect her outwardly villainous nature in WandaVision, her connections to the Scarlet Witch and the magical history of Marvel Comics may shed light on numerous mysteries from WandaVision - from Wanda's plight to Vision's resurrection, to the nature of twins Billy and Tommy, and even the (sort of) … [Read more...] about Who is Agatha Harkness? The ‘13 Reasons Why’ Meeting That Went Off The Rails, And Other Insights From Netflix Boss Reed Hastings’ New Book

In his new book, No Rules Rules: Netflix and the Culture of Reinvention , Reed Hastings describes himself as a “math wonk” with a “lack of showbiz knowledge.” Even so, the book doesn’t lean too heavily on engineering or MBA talk. Instead, to make its theoretical points, it uses an abundance of Hollywood-flavored anecdotes, drawn from 200-plus interviews with current and former Netflix staffers that were conducted by co-author Erin Meyer. Passages from Meyer alternate with ones from founder and co-CEO Hastings and stories from the workforce. Some experiences are well-worn totems of the company’s rise. Manager of original content Matt Thunell recounts the saga of buying the script for Stranger Things in 2015. Sensing the potential on the page was half the battle, a team of colleagues then had to create the studio infrastructure required to bring it to life, which they did in barely a year. Streaming House of Cards in 4K, entering children’s programming, acquiring … [Read more...] about The ‘13 Reasons Why’ Meeting That Went Off The Rails, And Other Insights From Netflix Boss Reed Hastings’ New Book

COVID-19: Remaining England university students cannot return to campus until 17 May ‘at the earliest’

University students in England who have been studying online since Christmas, have been told by the government they cannot return to campuses until at least 17 May. The Department for Education announced that as part of the route out of lockdown, all students who have not yet resumed in-person teaching will do so "no earlier than 17 May". The return will coincide with step three of the government's wider roadmap, also due to begin that day, where restrictions on social contact and indoor mixing will be further eased. However, as with all steps, progression to the next stage remains dependent on a review of the latest data and the impact of step two which began on Monday with the opening of non-essential shops, pub gardens and outdoor dining . Since March, only students on creative and practical courses have been allowed in-person teaching. It is estimated around half of university students in England were not eligible to return to campuses. Smiley: How to have fun with two TVs

During the last year, the pandemic limited my entertainment choices. I watched so much TV that at some point it seemed I had seen everything worth watching. For those in this same situation, Nancy C. Van Den Akker offers a way to enhance our viewing pleasure: "When I was young, we were not rich, but my father was quite creative. "Once when the TV went out, he got two sets, one with no picture and one with no sound. He put one on top of the other and we were back in business. "We had fun putting one on one channel and one on another, and looking for interesting combinations like Red Skelton and the news." Yes, I'd love to see a long-winded congressional speech on CSPAN while the sound was on a Chris Rock stand-up monologue. Funky music? After Dudley Lehew, in Monday's column, told how Cajun accents confuse closed captions on TV shows, we heard from Bill Huey: "I, too, watch subtitles, because dialogue is so often unintelligible, or else I am going deaf. "One of my … [Read more...] about Smiley: How to have fun with two TVs

VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS APRIL 13

Vietnam gas consumption to double in next 10 years: Fitch Solutions Gas demand is expected to rise from about 9.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2020 to above 25.3bcm in 2030, while influx of LNG helps to counter the decline in domestic production. Vietnam’s gas consumption is predicted to accelerate strongly over the coming decade, more than doubling, over the duration of the upcoming Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII) [2021-2030]. “The potential of the Vietnamese gas market is strong,” stated the Fitch Solutions in a note, saying in comparison to markets similar in terms the size of the consumer market as measured by population, Vietnam appears undersupplied in gas both in terms of absolute consumption volume and per capita. The domestic gas network is also found deficient with Vietnam ranking 15th out of 17 Asia-Pacific gas markets as per the CIA Factbook in terms of total gas pipeline length, despite having historically been self-sufficient in gas.
